Healing based on
Traditional Chinese Medicine and Music

The English word 'medicine' originates from the Latin phrase 'ars medicina,' meaning 'the art of healing.' MA MUSIC MEDICINE embodies this concept, offering a unique healing experience through sound and music rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and Chinese music. By integrating the theory of the Five Phases and pentatonic musical scales, and balancing the harmony of Yin and Yang, MA MUSIC MEDICINE provides holistic healing practices that enhance physical, mental, and spiritual well-being.

For centuries, music therapy has been a valuable alternative and complementary treatment for neurological disorders, including stroke, aphasia, visual neglect, Parkinson's disease, dementia, autism, and pain syndromes. Its effectiveness is widely documented by clinical practitioners and researchers worldwide. Music therapy promotes neuroplasticity, aids in brain damage recovery, and addresses cognitive, emotional, and social disorders.

In TCM, the mind and body are considered an inseparable unity. This holistic view, encapsulated in the concept of "Heaven and humans are one" (天人合一, tiān rén hé yī), influences the diagnosis and treatment of diseases, intertwining psychological and physiological aspects. For over 3000 years, TCM has employed non-physiological methods like music therapy, meditation, and chanting to treat various conditions.

In ancient China, music's primary function was healing. It was believed to heal the heart, enrich the mind, and harmonize the soul. The saying "Music before medicine" (Chin. 樂先藥後, yuè xiān yào hòu) reflects this belief. Interestingly, the Chinese character for "medicine" (藥, yào) derives from the character for "music" (樂, yuè). MA MUSIC MEDICINE draws on thousands of years of wisdom about the connection between humans and the universe, aiming to address modern health challenges through ancient practices.
